Hot Christmas

No Christmas porn here!

All I’m saying is there’s nothing better than having someone to cuddle with on Christmas eve. But since I’m still living with the ‘rents, I’m left with nothing but my phone to caress. Yep, sounds sketchy but no funny business here. Just all pure long distance blues. My “boyfriend” (since we’re not official) is going to Macau for the Holidays. Well, his flight’s a day after Christmas but you guys don’t expect us to be together on Christmas day itself, right? So yeah, we’ll be apart for a while. And all we’ll have to keep in touch with is our phone. But then that’s only for when he’s in the country. I’ll be left with nothing but Skype when he leaves for Macau. No one to text and be sweet to….

But that’s the drama queen in me talking. Overall, I’m just happy to have him in my life. Not everyone’s this lucky. I spent more than half of my life lonely during Christmas and it just brings a smile to my face everytime I realize that he’s the first and hopefully the only man I’ll be spending my Christmas with. Even though it’s only via text.

  Happy Holidays, everyone!

Make a wish and maybe cook some

A few hours from now people from all over the world will be celebrating Christmas or their own special holidays. Filipinos however, find it so difficult to move past traditions and make room for new memories. With the yearly Filipino delicacies like puto bumbong, bibingka etc and of course the very famous 9 mornings or simbang gabi. I personally don’t see this as a bad thing but putting our own little twists to it every year to make it even more special should always be entertained.

This year, 2011, I offered to cook all the meals for Christmas eve.

  • Bacon Wrapped Asparagus Bundles
  • Linguine with White Clams
  • Beef Brisket
  • Chicken Parmagiana
  • Triple Layered Chocolate Cake

All recipes taken from the foodnetwork.com

It’s sort of like my Julie and Julia inspired Christmas blog. I cook with no culinary background whatsoever to show my loved ones just how grateful I am for them. I wake up earlier than usual making sure I get ahead cooking so I can finish just in time for dinner. This holiday season, my Seventh Day Adventist cousins will celebrate  Christmas with us. They don’t celebrate this occasion in their religion but that doesn’t mean they should deprive themselves from eating good food, right? Especially this season since I’m making ALL of it. Wink ;)

Besides doing something out of the ordinary by cooking for everyone, my family and I will be also flying sky lanterns (funded by my parents of course)! It’s for all of us to make a wish on the strike of midnight and watch it fly to the sky and send our messages to the Lord. :) It’s a bit cheesy but anything you do with family just becomes a good memory more than anything else.

Happy Holidays, everyone! And please have a Merry Christmas :) God bless you all!

Hot mess

It takes me an hour at the least to figure out what to wear for school. Imagine how exhausting that is having to look through your closet for an hour…. well, i take half the time just staring at myself in the mirror but still. I’m already beyond lucky when I get out of the house for school an hour after I wake up. That means it took me only 15 minutes to figure out what to wear. Which is rare so that information is sort of irrelevant.

Attending a university that requires civilian is just pure torture.

This thought coming from a girl who studied all her life in a catholic school that promotes only the colors BLACK and WHITE. I mean more than half my life (Yes, we’re past the hours now) I took part in a communist catholic institution thinking this would prepare me for the real world… College! But did it? Heck no.

Every night before going to bed I check out my closet to spot what outfit to put together. You can tell by this blog that it takes me quite a while to figure out that look I wanna go for the next day. I mean how’s a girl with no fashion experience whatsoever suppose to pull off a trendy outfit? LOOKBOOK hahaha

On the serious note, it took me a year to figure out really how to dress myself properly. I’m not sexy at all. I have a booty but my hips died when I was young. I needed to figure out what clothes fit me well considering I didn’t have the hourglass shape at all. I figured if wearing low waist bottoms show off my butt-only-no-hips body then that obviously wasn’t for me. And just as I was exploring my fashion preferences, old people’s era came back to fashion!!!!!! By old people I mean my mom’s decade. High waist everything were back and they looked awesome! After gaining my confidence pulling off those trendy looks I figured wearing other styles wouldn’t be such a risk anymore.

There’s so much to choose from and worse is I end up trying all looks on every f-ing night. It’s crazy.

  • Dress and cardigan
  • Loose printed boho pants and fitted sleeveless
  • Ripped jeans and funky top
  • High waist brown shorts that go with everything! (Fave!)
  • High waist skirt and whatever top
  • Etcetera

What I wear in school determines my level of confidence for the day. Yep, it changes. Sometimes when my ensemble’s too girly, I end up all prim and proper. When I wear animal prints I feel sexier hence I act fierce lol It’s all too complicated and I hate how outfits limit me from acting a certain way. I mean I’m still loud (DUH!) but why can’t I be bold, fierce, aloof, conservative etc in one gorgeous outfit??????? I guess we really can’t have it all.

And don’t even get me started on accessories…. those take FOREVER to figure out. Turquoise, gold, silver, bangles, dangling, beads……………………………….

Roby’s birthday bliss

The best way to make someone feel loved is to put as much effort as you can.

Dating someone exclusively for the first time is all new to me. I’ve dated guys but none of them were really worth bragging about so it was actually my first time introducing someone to them formally. When his birthday month struck, I just knew I had to do even better than what he did for me in my birthday just because I know he deserved better.

Surprise 1: The box

I gave him a box with 13 chocolates (1 chocolate per day til his birthday) with strips of paper underneath. The strips of paper were from my diary from the first day he flirted with me til the day I realized we were already super official!!! #perky

Surprise 2: Balloon boy

I secretly gave his brother a bunch of balloons so that he’d see one each day to prepare him for his 20th birthday on the 12th of December. On December 1, he woke up and saw a balloon hanging on his bed. :) The rest of the balloons didn’t push through because he found out about it. #fail but still it was the thought that really counted #nobola

Surprise 3: Floating lanterns

I got him 20 (since he’s 20 years old!) lanterns that his friends and I lit up one by one.

I bought mine in Teeny in Fairview Center Mall (FCM) You can contact the owner at 09228990903 (sun) 09178999938 (globe)  but they also deliver in Malabon. Php 100.00/ sky lantern but when bought in bulks of 20 price goes down to 50 pesos.

Tip! Each lantern has a square candle that has to be lit entirely. Wait til the lanterns bloat completely before releasing. Each lantern has to be lit by at least 2 people. It looks small but it’s too huge for one person!

Surprise 4: Birthday video

I made him a video of his different set of friends greeting him. From his high school friends to his college buddies. I also dug deep and found his old pictures and videos that I included to make things more sweet and personal.

Tip! Ask your common friends to take videos for you so you wont get caught taking them yourselves and so you wont have to make up a lie just to get rid of him.

Surprise 5: Cake

This was a major fail. My friends and I bought a cake for him at Mom and Tina’s Bakery Cafe. Anyway, it was a fail because when his little brother and I went to their kitchen to get the cake, the maids told us that it’s on the food table already. They served it without us knowing! :( But he still loved it. (I think? haha)

Tip! Try their toblerone cake!!! If I remember it right they sell it at Php 1200

Surprise 6: Go Karting

Studying in Taft did have its perks. It was close to Boomland where it only cost 500 pesos each kart. Roby and I have always wanted to try it out so it was just perfect to treat him that day for an afternoon ride. It was just the two of us in the race track. It felt so exclusive haha probably because it was a Monday afternoon and was finals week lol We had separate single seat go karts so thanks to Boomland, I’m better at “driving” now.

Boomland formerly known as Boom na Boom is located next to Star City

Tip! Wear long sleeves because the heat will just kill you. You can either stick to what you’re wearing or get in a jump suit. Bleh!

Surprise 7: Vikings

For japanese food lovers like us, we just knew that buffet was the only way to go. We’ve heard nothing but great reviews about Vikings and hearing about the unli beer and drinks (unlike Sambokojin or Yakimix) just made it an even more smart choice. From personalized pasta to oysters. Vikings’ variety in food was phenomenal. Too bad we were both too full to try them all.

Unlimited supply of dead fish! #nomnom

Tip!  Visit the official site and get reservations days before to avoid  waiting in long lines. For those who can no longer get reservations, go to Vikings few hours before lunch or dinner and get signed under the Walk in list.

Who knew knights still exist? Not me until he came along.

I celebrated my birthday last September 2, 1991 and let me tell you something… It was awesome! My “boyfriend” (we’re not official but we’re exclusively dating lol) figured out a way to get me and my barkada together. This might sound easy but the catch was we all study in different schools (UA&P, UP, UST and DLSU) and I never mentioned to him their names. So everything was even more impressive because he managed to get to know them without any help from me whatsoever.

Image

He made a secret group via facebook and introduced himself as someone who’s courting me and would like to give me a surprise for my birthday. My best friend was in it as well.

The day after my birthday, he picked me up from my house and brought me to Eastwood where I saw by mistake my friends walking. They tried ignoring me but it was too late because by the time they tried walking away, I was already next to them. That part was a fail but overall, it was amazing.

ImageThe last time I was with my barkada was during our Christmas dinner last 2010. It took us 9 months to get together with only 2 people missing. (MIA: Cleo Leogardo and Louise Rapadas)

Well, everything actually made more sense when I found out he was treating my entire barkada to Sambokojin. Those cheap ass rich girls refuse to spend a dime kasi haha!

Now here’s the best part. I live all the way in Fairview and he lives in Ayala Heights. :) After dinner, I asked him if we could drop by Adhoc because some of my friends were expecting us. Of course he said yes! But few months after I realized how wild that night was.

He hates open parties, btw

Ayala Heights —-> Fairview —> Eastwood —> World Trade Center —> Fairview —> Ayala Heights

Overall, everything was perfect. His sacrifices made things even more special. And you wanna know the romantic part about it? He’s the first guy I introduced to my family. And the first guy my barkada approved of.  Now that’s one prince charming worth keeping hihi

New puff of life

Between transferring from DLSU to CSB and juggling my family and special someone, I find it impossible to get back on track and spare a little time doing things just for the sake of it. But now that’s exactly what I’m doing. All that free time staring into space put to waste.

Living so far from school and commuting back and forth from Fairview to Taft has been nearly impossible because of the scarcity in FXs. My parents had no choice but to let me rent a condo with my former blockmates. It was awesome at first but then you realize the load doesn’t get any better because once you see that bed on your doorstep, there’s no other way but sleep. Only good thing about it is you have a place to crash during long breaks and you’re assured of your safety.

Now that I have a chance to do things differently having a new school and all… I wonder if I’ll ever figure out that life shouldn’t be taken for granted. And that all impulsive decisions out of immaturity can only result to baaaaad experiences and regrets…. Cheerios amigos!
